LBS celebrates 6 years in business but is the grass always greener?

LBS CELEBRATES 6 YEARS IN BUSINESS

Just over 6 years ago I was working on Corporate and had decided it was time to set out on my own and I took 6 months to think through my project, write my plan and get started.  One of the things I love the most about business creation is the absolute possibility to move and change depending on your client’s needs.  One day is never the same as the previous and that can be fun but also very challenging.  It’s also the most amazing feeling when a client gives you a testimonial on how happy they are with your service and that their life has been made easier thanks to you.  It’s also nice not to have to ask your boss for a day off (although frankly I was never good at asking for permission, more for forgiveness !!).

At the beginning you run around doing everything and the days are not long enough. Six years later I am so happy to have Jennie, Antonella & Annelyse by my side to ensure that my clients get the best service.  It isn’t always easy so no rose tinted glasses here but I’m happy to celebrate my 6 years and shout out loud about it. We don’t do this enough in life.  So a big thank you goes out to my team but of course most importantly to my customers for trusting me with their challenges and giving us the opportunity to help them with their smooth transition to France.

At this 6 year marker, I thought I would take a look at the number of businesses in France and if people are still jumping ship and I’m thrilled to say that the  figures speak for themselves; there are more and more entrepreneurs in France.

Businesses in France 2018There are different options for businesses but it’s clear that the Micro Entrepreneur (read auto entrepreneur) system is still very popular with a 28% increase in 2018 to 2017 of auto enterprises which represents 66,500 new small businesses!

Did you know that the PACA region alone has one of highest records of business creations with a 19% increase in 2018.  Having set up more than +90 micro enterprises, I can clearly state I have contributed to these statistics and the French economy!

One fact that I am particularly pleased with is that 4 out of every 10 business creations are women.  Yes finally women are stepping into their power and taking their projects forward.

Tip One : Believe in yourself and your value

If you don’t believe in your product, service and value, then you will never convince anyone to buy from you.  You may have days when you doubt yourself but start each day in your ‘magic chair’ and visualize what you will do to move your business forward that day.  Deliver on what you promise and always celebrate your wins.

Tip Two : Build your treasure chest

It’s a difficult subject, money. Why is that?  It really shouldn’t be. Most people don’t like to talk about it but as a business owner you have to.  Your money mindset has to be right.   Let’s face it if you have no money, you have no business. It doesn’t matter how good your product or service is, if there are no clients or no sales then you have no business.    So every single day, ensure that whatever action you are taking means that you will be building your treasure chest.

Tip ThreeMake quick decisions

No business or organization is perfect; they are run by humans so they cannot be.  Every business learns by its mistakes and unfortunately sometimes at the customer expense.  Learn from your mistakes, adapt and change your business model accordingly. Ask your customers what they need, want and would like, continually and re-adjust accordingly but do it quickly.  When faced with choices, and you will, go with your instinct and make a decision. Better to make a wrong decision rather than sit on the fence and lose an opportunity.

Tip 4 :  If at first you don’t succeed, try again!

Perseverance is the name of the game.  Whatever your product or service, you may not sell it the first few times but keep knocking on those doors and keep asking for help.  If you make a mistake, learn from it and move forward.  Don’t beat yourself up about it. No one is perfect so learn from your errors and change accordingly.

Tip 5 :  Create your Why

Know the reasons you are creating your business and ensure it’s not just about money.  Maybe it is to create a legacy or to provide a good role model for children.  Or maybe its to create that dream life you’ve always wanted and gives you the freedom to do what you want to do, with the people you want, when you want.  If you are struggling, check your why list and let that give you the motivation to move forward

Tip 6 :  Baby steps are better than no steps

If you find yourself getting ‘stuck’ as your tasks are just too big and you go into overwhelm, break them down into smaller steps.  Whatever your end vision is, take a small step towards it each day.  It doesn’t have to be huge but it does have to be aimed at your key vision. It could be as simple as sending out 2 emails a day to people who may be able to help you and ask for that help.
